HIV orphans left behind after deaths of their parents and who were being taken care of at Thelyan children’s Home in Meru Imenti north sub-county were treated to an early Christmas by a group of youth under the umbrella of Helping Hands Ambassadors.
The children received gifts ranging from foodstuff, clothing, sodas, and toiletries among other. According to Jane Mugwe the administrator of the said Children’s Home, the facility catered for 47 orphans and challenges were many as they lived in a rented timber house which flooded during heavy rains. Jane said the small house they lived in was already congested and appealed for well-wishers to assist the orphans get better housing. John Mutuma the chairman of the group urged members of the public to embrace orphans especially those living with HIV/AIDS noting that showing love to them and making them feel accepted in the society would make them not lose hope in life.
